| Minutes of NTTB meeting April 24th 2010 at Big Racks BBQ
Meeting was called to order at about 12:15. There was no minutes from last meeting to read and approve so we moved on to the treasurer's report and seeing we don't have one, we moved on to new business. A sign in sheet was passed around asking everyone for first\last name and current email address. Next order of business was a consensus on how frequently everyone wanted to hold meetings and it was decided that the meeting will be held monthly on Saturday at around noon. During the dead heat of summer, the meeting will be moved towards later in the day. It was not decided which Saturday of each month to hold the meetings, so we will work that out as we go. The meetings will be rotated to locations North, South, East and West sides of the metroplex so as not to show favoritism to anyone location or area and make it more convenient for people to drive to and attend meetings. If anyone has any suggestions as to meeting locations, please advise. Discussion was held concerning the English Color and O'Reilly Auto parts discounts available to members and one example of the discount being used was reported to be a $130 can of paint was purchased for about $75 using the English Color discount … it does work! Flyers concerning the discounts were pasted out and it was suggested that members write the account numbers on the back of their NTBA membership card. Discussion was held concerning some of the forthcoming changes to the NTBA website such as access to technical section, ability to update picture information, etc. More will be announced after the Nationals in Colorado Springs. Discussion was held on just how to, for now, change your members picture of your ride on the NTBA website and, for now, email your picture(s) you wanted posted to Howard Anderson (howard.anderson@gmail.com) and he will make the change for you. This information will also be sent out as a separate message to those on the listserv email list. Discussion was held on how to add\change\update your club affiliation on the NTBA website and that information as to the procedures will also be sent out as a separate message to those on the listserv email list. Discussion was held on creating a NTTB membership card with club information and contact phone numbers and email addresses on the back, laminated in plastic, and everyone agreed it would be a good idea. Discussion was held on creating "business cards" about the NTTB chapter that could be given to someone interested in finding out more about the chapter and it was agreed that this would be a good idea and details concerning this are being worked out. Discussion was held concerning the creation of a "Tool Shed" list. This list would show items that are sitting in your garage or work shop that you are not using and might help someone else and save them the expense of going out and having to purchase one just like it. Items such as soda blasters, engine hoist, engine stand, torque wrench, welder, etc. could be put on a spread sheet of items available that members would be willing to loan to someone. Everyone thinks it is a good idea and details of the list and how it will be managed are being worked out. Discussion was held concerning "event" insurance as to what\who is covered and procedures for getting a certificate of insurance. Milt Atkinson will contact Jim Dihel of NTBA and report the findings at the next meeting. Announcement was made concerning the upcoming Pinewood Derby being held May 29th 2010 from 10am to 2pm at the Calvary Chapel 5930 Alma Drive in Plano. For details contact David Shipman at 972-386-7826. For those that order club car plaques, they should be arriving next week and arrangements for distribution will be made. Announcement concerning member Robert Peterson of Arlington was made in that his house burned down Wednesday April 21st. Everyone is OK and we are trying to get details as to what can be done to help get him and his family back on their feet. We had a visitor from Corpus Christi TX who saw the announcement concerning the meeting and wanted to attend. His name is Bruce Deangelis and he works for American Airlines and spends a lot of his time in the DFW area. He is building his first T and showed a keen interest in becoming a NTTB member … even after Tim "Toolman" Taylor took him for a ride. Shaken and a bit pale after the ride, he is still interested. Information on becoming a NTBA\NTTB member will be emailed to him. Thanks to all who managed to attend and bring your T to the meeting. They drew a lot of attention in the parking lot. Being there was no more new business, meeting was adjourned . Milt Atkinson
