1. In addition to the indicated grade marking, all grades, except A563 grades O, A and B, must be marked for manufacturer identification.
2. The markings shown for all grades of A194 nuts are for cold formed and hot forged nuts. When nuts are machined from bar stock the nut must be additionally marked with the letter 'B'.
3. Nuts are not required to be marked unless specified by the purchaser. When marked, the identification marking shall be the grade letter O, A or B.
4. Properties shown are those of nonplated or noncoated coarse thread hex nuts.
5. Properties shown are those of coarse thread heavy hex nuts.
6. Properties shown are those of coarse thread heavy hex nuts.

NOTE: The suggested T Bucket applications are based on years of trial and error by builders of street rods and race cars. History has shown that grade 8 fasteners used on suspension components have a very high failure rate. The NSRA and the NHRA will not pass a vehicle which uses grade 8 in suspension.

A36 is a very broad specification for low carbon steels. Our 3/4" and above Diameters are spec'd to A36 and our 5/8" and below will meet the minimum physical requirements of A36. 5/8" and below is called "Low Carbon Steel"

A307 is a bolt specification that many people mistake for a material spec. This spec also includes fully threaded studs. People will ask for A307 when most the time all they are looking for is standard A36 or low carbon steel. However, it is important to make the distinction. A307 calls out for A36 steel and a 2A fit. Most of our threaded rod (about 99%) will meet the material requirements and will have a commercial nut fit. We quote parts to meet A307 with the exception of the 2A fit.

A193 B7 is a heat treated material that begins with 4140 alloy steel. we have the hot rolled steel heat treated, turned and polished to get it ready for the manufacturing process. Tensile requirement is 120,000 psi and yeild requirement is 105,000 psi. Our steel will come up to and exceed these requirements to 135,000 psi tensile and 115,000 psi yield. Our B7 rod is manufactured to a 2A fit, but we do not certify every piece. This specification does not allow for plating. If the customer requests plating, we will certify the material as A193 B7 "prior to plating." Because the plating process involves high temperatures, reheating the steel can create "Hydrogen Embrittlement" weak spots in the steel. As a rule, we do not want to quote B7 hot dip galvanized. We do, however, some yellow zinc plating for various customers. Yellow zinc is primarily for appearance.

A193 B8 is the ASTM for our 304 stainless steel rod. Most stainless rod in the USA is imported. These rods are manufactured to a 2A fit.

A193 B8M is the ASTM for 316 stainless steel rod. It also is manufactured to a 2A fit.
