Ill list the tools you need first.
1. Carpenters square
2. String (I like to use cotton-small diameter. You could use nylon,
etc.)
3. Milk jugs, water jugs or antifreeze jugs filled w/water or sand.
Ive tried to use jack stands but, if they arent heavy, they
will slide on a slick floor.
4. Sharp pointed marking utensil. I like to use Sharpie-Ultra Fine Point
Permanent Markers because they produce a razor width line. The Sharpie-Fine
Points & others can produce a line that is 1/16 wide and even
more. If youre going to go to the trouble of doing this alignment,
you want to make each measurement as precise as possible in order to
get the desired results. For the purpose of these pics, I used a broad
marker because the camera wasnt picking up the thin lines.
5. Tape. I like to use gray tape (better known as 100-mph tape). You
could use masking tape or any other type of tape that will stay stuck
to the surface youre working on. I like gray tape & black
Ultra Fine Point Sharpies.
6. Tape measure. I have a Stanley in the pics. Use what you wish.
7. 6-ft. level or carpenters chalk line.
8. Pad of paper for figures (optional-could be done on a piece of tape)
Heres a pic of most of the tools you will need. You can make
the choice of jugs & chalk line vs. 6 level. You may want
to use all the tools.
