E-BRAKE

Hey there Fred. How about a progress report. I'm anxious to see your T taking shape?????

I have e-brake on my left side. It's only on the left wheel, making it a one
wheel e-brake. The carpet is obviously not in place like it should be, but it
the best picture I could find.

I might be able to find a few more pics if needed, but it's as close as possible
to the side upholstery.

Hi lyle Ill post some pictures later,, little slow working on the T. I got the gauges cut in the dash I had a grill made to go over the radiator assembly now I am going to work on the e-brake. then will be working on wooden box fred

I don't have the car right now, it in the upholstery shop right now or I
would take several pics for you. I should get it back in a couple of
weeks if you want more photos.

I did find one with the body off and from the side ....... see below. The
cable is bolted to the bottom of the frame rail, although you can't see
that from the photo. Anything else I can do for you.

In my humble opinion, if you are only braking one wheel, you don't have an "e" brake, you have a "p" brake (and even that's iffy). Using a one-wheel brake to stop the car in an emergency would be very dangerous, I think. Good chance of spinning out or otherwise losing control. And using a one-wheel parking brake you risk that one wheel not being on a stable surface and the car moving when you don't expect it.

When I built my T, I wanted to have a true "emergency" brake, which I could use to stop the car if I had a juice brake failure. This just seemed like the prudent thing to do, especially since it was my first time fabricating a hydraulic brake system and my confidence in my flares was pretty low! In fact, the first time I drove the car after completing it, I used the e-brake to stop because I could not get a pedal on the master cylinder, which turned out to be bad. That test drive was NOT on the street!!

My vote would be to use a two-wheel braking set-up if at all possible!!

thanks Lee great information, did not think of that. I will reconsider the one wheel e-brake, because safety is still no. 1.
