1880's Train Ride

Post by Dennis Neblock »

Ok folks, here's the deal on the 1880's Train Ride in Hill City for Wednesday June 15th.
Due to the difficulties of trying to corral people for reservations we've decided it's "Every man for himself" for ticket reservations. It's easy either online or you can call them direct. You just need a little basic information:
Departure date: June 15th
Departure time from Hill City: 2:30pm
Departure time from Keystone: 3:45pm
Several of us have picked the "Oreville" car which is an enclosed car in the middle of the train both directions. They suggest that you pick seats on the opposite sides of the train for each segment as the locomotive is reversed (direction of the cars is not). This way you will have a different view each way. So far we are around rows 9, 10 and 11. Please feel free to sit wherever you like, if you want to pick a different style of car , feel free. Just look over the website for a description of the different cars. They do have cars for folks with accessibility issues.
Don't be intimidated during the purchase process. After your initial information the "select seats" button will light up and all the different cars and seating availability light up.
Now, there is a little disclaimer: The reason we're putting this out there now is ticket availability for Wednesday. From what we've been told you cannot depend on getting a ticket the day of the ride. This is a busy attraction and they sell out. It was suggested that ticket purchases be made by sometime Monday. Nothing is cast in stone and it might be a slow day, you never know. Might be better "safe than sorry" if you're sure you want to go. Remember, there are no refunds!
