Wow, that's some very nice pics of the funny cars, got to be an expensive telephoto or zoom lense.

She did the right thing to help herself !!!
If you go to 1:52 in the video, the car is just starting to lift the rear wheels off the
pavement and you can see her chute starting to deploy already!!!

Re: NHRA visits St Louis
WOW!! crazy fast that happens. A friend and I were at Topeka KS maybe 10 -15 years ago and watched a similar thing happen. Can't remember who the driver was. I to remember the team took the driver capsule and a back up car to a near by frame builder to insert the capsule in the back up car over night and then put the car together and ran the following afternoon and turned something like a 305 MPH pass or something close to that. I tell you, that is a high level of confidence in your team to pull that off !!!
I just found out yesterday a friend of mine and his son ( both are racers ) were at St Louis this weekend also. Jimmy the son runs a Top Dragster class of car. Anyway he made it to the Semi Finals and broke out by just a few thousands of a second. That class of car has a 6.10 second limit on the et and he often sets the top MPH qualifying run often in the low 240 MPH. Not to bad for a 22 year old kid and I've known him his whole life. The dad Jim Sackuvich has a Pro Mod nitrous car. He will be in Tulsa this coming weekend. I also will be there. Any bucket heads who can make it, look for Sackuvich Motorsports. A black 1969 Camaro called The Crown Town Hustler. This is a 1/8th mile event. Pro Mods typically run 3.6 - 3.8 seconds at 200-210 MPH in the 1/8 mile.
