Re: carburators
By the way, if you post these questions in the "Technical" section, you'll probably get more answers.

Re: carburators
allen, you said u have big pair of mickeys, im gonna have the one thats 32"s tall and 17.8" tread width, we will have the same basic engine, (i dont know what or if anything you did to yours) my question is with your high gear ratio, from a dead stop, do u have enough power to spin both tires if u want to? i wont b racing my car on strip or anything but im a big kid at heart and know i will try to burn them a few times, my gears will be 350 is what im thinking of going with, which is not as high as yours, so let me know what you think please.

Re: carburators
isaltz, i don't see the gear ration your talking about in the postings.. but there IS a good chance u will NOT smoke the tires on a bucket.. spin the heck out of them yes.. we don't have enough weight to do it.. they spin a few times then grab and your gone..

Re: carburators
thanks bill, when i say smoke i didnt mean it literally, i just meant be able to spin them, the gear ratios im considering is the 350 gears vs the 370, according to the calculators running at 65 mph there is only 150rpm difference. i was told thats not much on hwy but it makes a huge difference on the holeshot. well im not racing it, im not taking it to the track, i will be driving it a lot. so i was wanting to go with gears for less rpm for gas milage, but i did want to be able to spin them when i wanted. but again i dont know how much difference 150 rpm makes on gas milage, is it enough to be concerned with. all advice, comments, and opinions welcom, thanks

Re: carburators
Most everyone will tell you to go Edelbrock, but I'm old school and have always been a Holly Fan. I'm running a Holly 670 Street Avenger carb on a Holly Street Dominator intake. The carb was "wet flow" tested at the company and out of the box the only thing I've done to it is set the idle. All of this is sitting on a 327 that I had rebuilt and beefed up. All in all, it just purrs. But like I've said, everyone has their own setup that works for them and Edelbrock seems to be the choice of most. Me, I'm a Holly fan and always will be.
