Paint Question
I know that this is a very difficult question to answer with so many variables but I am just trying to get a sense of what to expect as I have never done this before. I am getting ready to have my 23 T-bucket painted. It is a CCR fiberglass body, it will need some bodywork to clean up the mold lines etcetera before painting. I plan to take the body off of the frame so masking will be minimal. I am thinking of a Candy Dark Cherry with maybe some pin stripping or ghost flames. What is a reasonable budget that I should be expecting for this? I live in Las Vegas Nevada. Thank you for any input or suggestions.

Welcome to the masses and to the family. Wow that is a tough question to answer. I know what I paid and mine is without the frills. I would imagine it depends greatly on the shop you take the parts to to have painted. Paint jobs, depending on the expertise and honesty can vary in price to "hey I'll do it for six 12-packs of beer to the skies the limit!" Have you checked with any other bucket owners in your area? How about any rod clubs? Usually they are the BEST source in seeking out a reputable painter who is not going to stiff you. I had mine painted by a friend who works at a local Ford dealership in the body shop. I won't tell you the price, but had I taken the parts to an outside body shop, the job would have cost me $$$$$, this way it was only $$$.
IF YOU can do all the prep work yourself, that will greatly cut down the price, as most of the work involves the prep work...and I don't mean masking, but sanding the body down to make it slick smmmmmmmoooooth, filling holes etc. Also the type of paint, base color, bass boat effects(metal flake), ghost flames etc will also generally add to the cost. Again, the sky AND YOUR wallet are the determining factors in what a paint job will cost.
Sorry I can't give you a dollar amount...Green Bay, WI is far far away from the cost of a paint job in Las Vegas,NV. Good luck though Todd...and ASK around, go to car shows and ask folks about their paint jobs and where they had it done...after all the paint job you get on the car will speak VOLUMES!!! I know...as I experience it every time I take my bucket out.

p.s. Picture does not do it justice. It is NOT black...it is "Jerry's Kustom Kandy Green" (for true...not another color such as this in the entire United States!) Top color is 2014 Chrysler Cashmere/Sandstone pearl. I will add also that the base color for green is that of the cashmere....and with minute metal flake tossed in to make it POP!
