Question about words.
What is the difference between lumber and boards? CEEC 
It's not a toy if it takes two people to lift it.

wellllllll... lumber = a stack of lumber measuring of different sizes
boards = a quantity of boards measuring 5/4x6
boards = a quantity of boards measuring 5/4x6

Isn't lumber a collection of boards????
Some boards have people sittin on them-------boards of directors etc-------people sit on boards in out houses too---I am told.

Hi Ceec, knowing you are into wood working I will say that lumber is what you have when you cut up trees into useful shapes to build something, but are solid wood. Boards can be made of other materials in addition to wood, such as plastic, OSB, MDF, particle board, structural foam board and so on.

Lumber is measured in quanity (a load , a pile )........boards are measured in feet ( you can have a 100 board feet of lumber)........if we are talking wood
