Re: Birth of Long John
Got my trans mount ready to weld in the bucket. I modified a Horton Welders Series Mount to fit my unorthodox chassis. My whole trans will be in the car with me. I wanted to be low and sit on the floor but I’m hoping I have room for me. The seat can be 4” high and get over the trans but I hope I don’t need that!

Thank you Bill. I’m still learning but the Miller clear view helmet with the lights on it made a huge difference.

I am using a TIG but I’m just learning. This takes practice but it is fun when you get it right.
Indycars came over today and I mocked up ride height and wheelbase. Looks like I had to raise itt up a little but it still has a great stance. The wheelbase ended up 160”.

Got the motor and trans mounted. Got the rear suspension and brake parts on the way. Got the rack and pinion mount made to go next to the motor. Hoping for a roller by Thanksgiving. Going to be close.

Got the tank and propane and high pressure regulator. The low regulator is a special one and had to order it. I didn’t spend a lot of time today. I was working on pattern for firewall and floor. Wasn’t feeling to good so I didn’t stay out long.
