It will go down when the engine is installed.

Kinda close to rear axle. Thinking about raising tank up. Might even 45° the tank at differential for clearance

If you 3" of clearance, I doubt it will ever hit as you wont have much weight on the rear of car. Most axle travel will be down such as raising the car with a lift or floor jack. Get 250 lb shocks and springs.

How about a second cross member, possibly removable, that you could attach a bump stop to over the differential. It would help locate the tank also.
I know your clearance is closer than you'd like, but I don't think most buckets get more than that in pure vertical travel. This way the differential rise would be limited as when jacking the car up but the wheel travel wouldn't be limited very much at the corners. Just a thought, you and the boys keep up the good work.

Angle the bottom. Then angle under the body you will have plenty of room..
