The day will come when I have a flat tire on one of those big rear Hoosiers. For those of you who have had this issue, what did you do when you were out on the road? Call a tow truck, use something like "Fix-A-Flat" (does that stuff really work), ride it home on the rim (yikes!), or just abandon the T-Bucket and go home a start to build another one?

I carry a can of FIX-A FLAT but have never had to use it on the T. Have used it on other things and it works...sort of.

I have a Plug kit and Fix A Flat an have one of those old things that look like a compression tester that I can pull a plug and air up the tire and when all else fails my cell phone

Those spark plug inflate-rs work very well, but word of caution. Do not touch it after using for awhile - it gets hotter than Hades.

FYI....IF you ever have to use that Fix-A-Flat product, make certain when you take that tire to a tire shop that you INFORM the service fella that it indeed has that chemical in the tire. My understanding, most guys don't take too kindly to NOT being informed of this.

Actually makes no diff if it's one of the fat assed tires or just any tire on a bucket. When I was puling a trailer behind the bucket, it had a donut spare on it, but it was meant to be used on the trailer...you would NOT want to use a donut spare on the bucket because of the scrub line.

I would just use my cellphone and call AAA.

I've had 3 "flats", but no blowouts. One at the 2001 Nats in Hannibal MO, one at the 2005 Nats and another at the 2006 Nats in Mountain Home AR. I think I fixed someone else's flat at the 2000 Nats in Branson MO. Can't remember who it was. I always spotted the hardware in my tire before it went all the way flat. I carry a plug kit and air tank on trips. It's a fast and easy fix that way. Cell phone is great, but there are still a lot of places without towers, so it can be hit and miss.

Yes you are correct about the tower issues Curt...heck even in my OWN home, the signal sucks...good thing I'm not having any flat tires.

I carried a plug kit with me when Punkun and I did both Hot Rod Power Tours and thankfully neither one of us had to use it. good insurance just knowing that you have it. Could be worse though...you could have your pan hard bar come loose on you....don't ask how I know about this.

We've had a bunch over the last twenty years and it use to really suck with tubes in the old bias ply mickeys, cold patch kit and a spark plug inflater that burnt the hose off all the time. Now days it's a 12v pump and a plug kit, those were not the GOOD ol days, but ya gotta love em.
