How many of you folks drive your Bucket to the events...How Far..???....and How do you deal with the Rain...I am sure it runs ok...but what about the Interior ...????

Now a days I trailer mine, but for several years I did drive it out of town. I do have a top on mine, but it is no way near rain tight. I do have marine grade interior which is designed to get wet and so it will dry out ok. Even now on occasion I get wet but is just dries out eventually.

We trailer our bucket because we pull an enclosed trailer with our motorhome all over the country.

Now we have gotten very wet but when I built the car I drilled two 1 inch holes right next to the trans tunnel so the water had a place to get out, trust me the rain will get in on its own...but I have never had a problem getting dry.......Lots of people drive lots of miles with only tops and no windows........

We (Bill Darr & I) went to a Car Show in Cloudcroft NM (8500 Ft) last year and it started raining and the temp dropped to 52 degrees but by the time we drove the 95 miles to Artesia (3300 ft) and the temp at 109 degrees it was OK we dried pretty quick.........

I got caught in a SNOW STORM one night - 2:00PM - on my way home from the Cavalcade of Customs in Cincinnati - NO TOP!! Was wearing a snowmobile suit though. 15 mile drive ---

Crazy......being a Biker....I have got caught in so many storms on a Bike I can't count...just part of riding...One stops...puts on a Rain suit...keep going...worry about the next few hours cleaning chrome later.....LOL..Thanks for the info...just trying to soak all this in...get all the info I can...I am itching to get into a bucket...seems it would be the closest thing to riding a bike..open cab and everything...and it seems they have a small fuel cell...so stopping for fuel often must be a common thing....

I have a 14.5 gal tank and get around 20 miles per gallon (might not be as big a looking motor but I get to the speed limit about the same) so I can go farther on the gas tank than the legs (old age) will let me anyway............LOL..........so I got to get out an straighten the legs and do a pee brake anyway......

Same for me.....My Bike has a 6 Gallon tank....since the Race tune...plus larger wheels...pipes...ect...about 35mph...so around 220 miles per tank...after 100 or so I am down to half a tank...I start hunting fuel...and a leg break also...I really love the buckets...you Guys have some great looking rides....maybe I can join the Ranks soon...

As someone once said, a T-Bucket is just a motorcycle with four wheels and you don't have to put your feet down when you come to a stop. If you or your other half is afraid of the rain/cold, then this is not for you. You have to love these little hot rods and all that goes with them.

You also can put a top on it and side curtains to keep most of the wind and rain out, but not water proof or wind proof. Also add a heater for cold evenings, or A/C for the heat. Have seen a couple T's like that to accommodate the fairer sex.

Best decision is to get one and try it. It is not all about the cars, but the family that is associated with it. You can always sell it later if not to your liking.

Most of the National meet is all about seeing the "FAMILY" again, cruising and looking at some great cars.......The show & shine is not about what some one can sell you or try to convince you to build your car this way or that......it is all about visiting with the Family and valve covers and did I say visiting/cruising.......We do not have the same kind of Nats others have because the cars are not like other cars.....

I am sorry the Nats did not live up to what you expected but please look again the buckets are what brings us together and the Family is why we do it.......I have been to the last 8 Nats and I meet new members through the help I give the NTBA and walking around the parking lot & on cruises during the week leading up to and during the Nats, this year I put almost 600 miles on my bucket and 1980 miles on the motor home...I will be going to Green Bay Wis next year...............I will get off my soap box now.........:

Car are like Bikes...you meet the best people at both events....I have been riding something since I was 7 ...53 now...Not afraid of the Rain....but like most not a Fan when riding in it...you get wet...well you just get wet....LOL...I love meeting new folks...have the gift of gab....Love anything loud and narly....seems the bucket is right up my alley....now at 53..and countless 1000's of miles logged on a Bike....one starts to think..to do something else...thoughts of going down enter my mind more these days..with all the cell phones and texting going on...more and more of my fellow riders have gone down...T-Bucket would be a blast and very close to riding...main reason I am looking...hard part will be for me to let go of a Bike...I would have to sell my Harley to pick up a Bucket...just have not pulled the trigger to do so Yet.....thanks for the info and response's
