Are you on this forum? I've misplaced your phone number but have heard you will be bringing your dyno to Carson City for the NATS next year. I sure hope this is true, and if it is, instead of costly insurance premiums for coverage of any performance driving events, maybe NTBA would see fit to have two trophy classes. One for the show and shine like we have every year, and some for the dyno results. At least two, one for top blown hp, and one for top NA hp. Or maybe a 3rd one for top torque? Just an idea that Rolla and company can mull over.

Bob, we had a portable dyno at one of our annual truck events a few years back. it didn't generate much interest though. People were more interested in 1/4 mile racing at the track.

I'd love to do a 1/4 (even an 1/8) mile rip, but I don't think NTBA would be interested in the insurance for those events. At the 2010 Fred's Fun Run, Chris set up the dyno and I believe over 20 buckets made a pull, out of about 50 Ts in attendance. With that ratio, if it held up for the 150 at the Choo-Choo, there would have been 60+ pulls. Dyno pulls might be just a West Coast thing. Chris generated the highest HP numbers with his blown Mopar T. Here is Chris on his pull.............

Bob, I am not a big fan of Trophies, as they make more people unhappy than they please but that is a decision for the folks running the Nats in Carson City. Everyone is porud of their car and the personality that shows through. As Bill Darr did in past years, I like the specialty awards, acknowedgements and fun awards. Just my humble opinion but again we will leave that decision to the folks that are putting on the event in Carson City.

I agree with Rolla! I like the "longest distance traveled/driven", most hot dogs, biggest oil slick under the car, loudest pipes, coldest icecream, coldest beer, biggest pizza, etc!

I too do not care that much for trophies. There is always the guy that complains because he thinks his car is better and can point out 100 reasons why.
Also if you have a show worthy car you don't need a chunk of plastic for people to recognize quality. There again everyones taste are different, some don't want all the chrome and shine.
As for leaving the hobby, I believe its in the blood. Even if you have to sell your ride you will still drool and dream over the other fellas. Just because I'm on a diet, don't mean I can't look at the menu!!

I am not a big fan of trophies either, when we held the 2007 NATS, we had alot of awards like "Best Sunburn on a Buckethead" "Worst Leakage" "Overheating" etc. This made the event fun and did not pose any type of competition. I do not favor awards or recongition the start wioth "Best of" "Top 10" "1st, 2nd, 3rd etc.

As for the dyno, details must be worked out!!!! I had a informal discussion as to possibly bringing the dyno for the T-Bucket group at Carson city. No promisis or agreements have been made yet. I will state, we had the dyno at Fred's run a few years back and everyboy interested to see what thier T-Bucket could lay down, and we had fun and benched raced all about it.

AGAIN: The dyno would be a generous gesture on the Ward's if that is something the T-Bucket family would be interested in. If not, I will not waste my time as this will cost me significant additional expenses to bring to Carson City.
