Colors July/13/1999

I've been retyping some of my early posts on the BBS which I failed to put on
3 ½" floppys. Now that I have a DVD burner I'm going to transfer all the Odes to the more secure DVD's. I almost lost the Ode To Weelstang and Mud-T due to having Word Perfect(that had a flaw in it) which has been replaced with Word which was the original program used with the floppys.

I'd forgotten about all the 'good natured' arguments over the best color for a T. It's nice to see that not much has changed since 1999. This was posted before our Nats in Branson for the '99 year.

Some of the members that used to join in on the 'color argument fun' are still here on the BBS and others, unfortunately, are no longer affiliated with us. But, there's good news. Many more new members, with that 'color favorite prejudice', have joined in to carry on with the humor. The date of this retype is: 02/14/06…Well, what do you know, that's Valentines Day isn't it, and Valentines are usually red…..Whoops, better stop, don't want to get something started here.
ODE TO COLORS

For some few days I've watched and read,
As many strong words have been printed as said,
About two colors, for which some have bled,
As for those colors, one is yellow, the other red.

Most that are involved favor one or the other,
Almost to the point that they'd sell their mother,
To convince someone else that their color's all wrong,
Saying "My color's best!", that is my song.

It all started when someone asked why,
So many same color pics upon the board did lie.
Then a negative remark was uttered in print,
Against one color, and the shock wave was sent.

The intensity gained momentum concerning these hues,
With some people contracting a case of the blues!
Speaking of Blue, it's now been mentioned,
Not so as to place it in present contention!

Lots of terms have been bantered about,
Some have been tame and others real stout.
For these two colors Bucketheads do spout,
"The color on my T REALLY carries the most clout!"

Yes, two colors are most mentioned it would seem,
But, to one or the other, majority does not lean.
Now an alarming thing, recent days did bring,
There have been several mentions for the color Green!

Most of the talk seems to be personal in nature,
Each entry chocked full of special nomenclature.
Yes, many barbs have been posted, as if personally said,
Like, "As for my T color….Rather Be Dead Than Red!"

Technical talk like "nanometer", was brought into play,
For finding which color most easily upon the eye did lay.
And even the "wave spectrum" was brought in at last,
Proving that Red was slow and Violet was fast.

Now there's mention of a race that will be nice,
And I don't think that idea has been put on ice.
It's between 'Cartoon Bandit' and 'Da Pilgrim', should be a show,
Cause both those cars got a 'lot-a-get-up-and-go'!

I fear 'Cartoon Bandit' will be an unhappy fellow,
When he learns that the Christmas tree lights are only green or yellow!
But, regardless of which color wins the race pending,
'There will be no peace', the talk will be unending.

Now, I know of one way to end this spite,
So that no one again would have to fight,
To prove that their color carried most of the might,
Simply paint EVERYONE'S car to be ALL ALIKE!!

If we finally decide to paint our cars the same,
I know just how to do it and make us tame.
Cause, everyone knows it's easy to paint cars,
Then, most assuredly, we will ALL be stars!

Start with a good brush and a large can of Rust-o-leum,
Or, let's try JB Weld sticking on lots of linoleum.
The color MUST be the same for whatever we use,
For sure, we don't want a return of those blues!

After all, what is the purpose of paint, does anyone know?
Well, of course, it's to keep that old rust factor low,
So when Mr. Rust-Your-Tin comes on his merry way,
The Paint will most definitely Block his eroding play.

So, if paint blocks rust, and looks good too,
One would want to pick the most pleasant hue.
But, be careful in demanding what color for others to play,
Lest angry little barbs be aimed your way.

Remember, "Whoop-Ass" in a can favors no color,
It'll work with one as well as another.
It may not treat you like a long lost brother,
Nor or you guaranteed the affection of a mother.

Me thinks all these rantings with accompanying fest,
Are of tongue and cheek with a lot of jest.
Some Bucketheads are quiet, their T color(s) to be guessed,
Knowing in their mind, "My T color is the BEST!"

But now, alas, I give the crowning blow,
By telling you something that I now know.
Some, upon hearing this, a hissing fit will throw,
And to others it will give the right to crow.

DuPont Paint did a recent survey it seems,
To find the most popular color that the public deems.
There were TWO favorite colors, to which the public leans,
And now for the answer, they are WHITES and GREENS!

There it is folks, its now been said,
You can now pack it up and put it to bed.
Better yet, come to Branson and see the race,
You couldn't find a more beautiful place.

There are lots of handles to be put with names,
Each to be matched to the face that's the same.
There will be many, many colors represented here,
Let's all give each one a resounding cheer.
