Tire wear

I notice the outside tread of my front tires is wearing more than the inside. I also see a slight positive camber in my front wheels (about 1 degree each wheel with my angle finder). Is this correct, and if not is it something that can be corrected without bending the front axle?

PS - My toe in is about 3/32" the last time I checked.

How come you mounted your front shocks what is upside down to most folks...…….?...…..that may only be my question but inquiring minds want to know...…….? ..Nice photo by the way...…….

Good question Mike, I'm not sure which way is upside down. I've got mine mounted the same way. Mine are SoCal shocks and mounting them with the shock body up puts the logo and lettering upside down.

Most shocks should not be mounted upside down. According to Monroe.....

Can shock absorbers be mounted upside down (rod end down) and still function properly?
Most modern shock absorbers utilize a twin (dual) tube construction; in order to work properly the inner of the two tubes (working chamber) should stay completely filled with oil. The outer (reserve) tube contains an oil reserve along with air or a pressurized gas. If the unit is mounted inverted (rod side down), the air or gas in the outer chamber can enter the inner working chamber, resulting in poor damping performance. Therefore, twin tube shock absorbers should not be mounted upside down (or on their side), with the exception of specially designed units that incorporate a gas cell, or cellular gas material, designed to keep the gas retained in the outer reserve tube.

SoCal indicates their shocks can be mounted either way but preferred way is with rod up.

Yep that should do. I see the drag link is behind the axle, not a big deal. what I was wondering before the photo was the Ackerman angle. It appears to be ok without actually being there to test for it. Based on that I am going to guess the axle may need to be bent to correct the camber. when I bought mine 25 years ago the Ackerman was way off and did wear the outside of the tires real bad. I corrected it and no more problem. I would think you guys have someone in St Louis area who could bend the axle???
