Burl is finishing up his new Blue Roadster

Post by Dean »

Some of you may remember Burl's yellow Track Car from the 2004 Mountain Home Nationals and the posts covering the rebuilding of it over the year beore that. Well, He still has it but is now finishing up a brand new roadster.
The car is based on a body with 4" extended cowl and opening door on passenger side bought from P&J Fiberglass in MN some 15 or more years ago. The windshield is essentially the same as the track car, about 16" tall round corner frame with one piece glass mounted on short 17-22 T posts. Interior is owner designed and sewn in deep blue vinyl. It has a tonneau cover as well.
A turtle deck covers the fuel cell and battery in the rear. Deck lid is hinged and has locking latch.
Radiator shell is our new modified glass T one which covers the Mustang radiator and conceals the tanks and side straps exposing only the core up front as well as having provision for a grille insert if you choose.
The front end is Speedway beam axle assembly with Chevy spindles and small discs and calipers and hairpins with Mustang steeringbox mounted up front as usual. Column is GM tilt.
Engine is a built 400 small block Chevy hooked up to a Turbo 350 transmission driving a Jaguar XJS rearend.
We are starting out with 4 shocks and only springs on the rear ones for a good ride.
Wheels are 14"x6" up front and 15"x8" out back Cragar S/S 5 spokes. Headers are Hedman Classics. Taillamps are 33-36 Ford on 29-34 Ford Pickup brackets.
