Lee, I dug a hole into that file cabinet and pulled out those plans. I got detailed ones from Al Carpenter, and some stuff from Lugnut. Al's came with pics and stuff. I need to scan it. What should I do from here? I went to see if I could send you a personal message, but if I can, I can't figure it out. Email me at frank dot alguire at gmail dot com, and we'll take it from there.

I would suggest you scan the stuff you have and upload it to Photobucket, flickr, or one of the other photo hosting sites, then link to the files in a post here on the forums. If you're not comfortable with that, send the pics to me and I'll post them. I think others will be interested in seeing what you have.

Okey dokey. Busy today, maybe tonight. Come to think of it, busy tomorrow too, but I'll get at it when I can. Problem is computer and scanner are on my desk and we're moving it right now to install new floors in that room. Hope I wrap up this project this weekend!

I got this stuff Al Carpenter sent me back in '05 and the text of Lug's folding top instructions uploading to Photobucket now. They're 12 big files and will take a while to upload. Should be able to link to them here early tomorrow.

Busy day, finished the laminate flooring and can hardly move! Looks great though.

When I finally did my top, I went with Luggy's idea. Started with a Speedway frame. Cut the two bars that run forward to the header at the flange.Weld two short tubes that will slip inside the original tube to the flange.slip tubes together and drill for pins.Now with the top up, you can remove the pins and fold the tubes in on each other. Then disconnect the header from the windshield and roll back the top to the the first rollover tube. Now let the whole thing lay back on the bed. When the top was being upholstered ,I had the guy make a cover , for when it was down......Now having said all that, I have never put the top down, I like it much better up, and it is a pain in the neck to go through all that.If..and this is a big if...LOL...I ever built another one I would put on a fiberglass top like John Hapman has, I never put it down anyway...I would save a lot....of money, it wouldn't flap,and it wouldn't wear out. If it starts to look bad , you just repaint or recover it .

You ARE correct in that putting the top up or down is a huge PITA, but...it's nice to have the option of doing so...There were times in the past when I had the LGSM that I'd go to a show and take the top and then sweat my butt off...or I'd remove the top and then get caught in a sever thunderstorm. This folding top gave me an option of having the top up or down.

However, I am working on another design for a folding top and if my idea works, then all that moving hardware for the first design can be thrown out.

Hi, new guy here, very interested in knowing if any progress has been made by anyone regarding a folding top. I just bought a T-bucket that I intend to drive to work most days. I'll need a top, especially in the winter, but I don't think I can get in and out of the car unless the top can be folded back. I'm also wondering why some of the bow frames attach to the side of the bucket, while others attach at the top. The former seem more rugged based on photos I've seen, but I haven't found that type for sale anywhere.

Any help with this will be very much appreciated.
