Folding Top cont'd... why wouldn't this work?

Bill, I'm planning to keep the wooden headboard but replace the two steel brackets on the ends. One of the pics below shows the factory brackets (not my car). The new brackets will be shorter, probably extend down the sides of the windshield only about an inch. If there's a problem with the headboard tilting, I'll mill a slot in each bracket so they can slide over pins in the sides of the windshield frame. The large part of the latch will be screwed to the side of the bracket, and the hook will be screwed to the windshield frame with an adapter. The adapter will be similar to those I made for my mirrors, just something to provide a flat surface for the latch. All the new parts will be made from aluminum. Once the latches are done and the frame is mounted, I'll look at ways to make the top rods collapsible, and maybe the sides as well.

That's the plan, anyway. :)

I looked on the CCR website and they list 2 part numbers for the top frame. I have their top frame for a standard
body and can measure it if you would like me to.

Thanks for the offer, but I went back to the CCR site and the two part numbers are for different finish types (Chrome or Black). I think that I will give Diane a call tomorrow.
