That was when the chief of police fully understood what "light em Up" meant :-). Nothing like a massive burnout with the chief of police in your car

Bet you can't do that in many other states with a police chief of the town.

I recall a car show at Edwardsville, IL attended by the STL chapter/NTBA when the police D.A.R.E. officer did the biggest burnout with his pro-street Impala police cruiser! That must have been 15 years ago . . .

Yes sir it was Spanky. That was a fun time for sure!!! Bill Watson did quite a job of building that show to what it is today!! They had to move it to the High School because it grew so large. Terry and Sherrie Burris are still very active with it.

Hey Rolla , I remember that police chief had a big grin on his face in Lenoir when he got back from his "ride". Didn't you also give a ride to a female reporter that was scared to death. T- Odd and Dennis Bynam just parked wherever they liked anyway. Punkin had a reserved parking spot right in front of the ice cream store. As a side note, in the Feb issue of "Street Scene" magazine on page 151 there is a picture of Richard (Punkin) Johnson, with his family and his 23 Ford C-Cab from the year 1988. The little girl (about 7 years old ) would have to be Amy.I had no idea he had ever had a C-Cab. It said they had 700 cars at Jacksonville,Ill and he was entry #1. Small world. :D :)!

Any chance of that picture appearing here ;-). Yes, the reporter didn't express the same excitement as the chief did :-). She screamed louder too !!! There have been so many great experiences we could all share where we introduced locals to our cars. Might be the making of a new string on here. Hmmmmmmmm. Anyone??

Spanky,

I remeber it well. That was the year I asked Chris, The Darr Officer in charge, if the T-Buckets could do burn outs for the awards. He stated no, but went inside the registration room and of course, yours truly, did a brn out and landed right in front of the chief of police. The next year, the chief asked me to take his brother out for a ride which I did. On return the brother thanked me and left. The chief came back to me and asked where his brother went. I stated I punched it and he fell out of the car. The chief said He was not a good brother anyway.
