Welcome to the lower Midwest! Texas isn't the only state where "bigger is better."winfield scott wrote: ↑Sun Sep 04, 2022 11:49 am We left home on the 31st heading for the cool Desert![]()

Re: Cruising to the Desert Run!
After a one day rain delay we made it to the next state line.
Spent the night on "Monkey Island" haven't seen any monkeys yet! Just people chasing little white balls around!
This is the view from our room to watch. Who knew Oklahoma had so much water! Grand Lake is similar to the Lake of the Ozarks.
Back on the road heading for Weatherford, OK for the night. Beautiful day for cruising, but still too hot for these Michiganders!!

Re: Cruising to the Desert Run!
Before lunch we stopped for fuel and I noticed oil dripping under the rear end! Couldn't quite see where it was coming from so decided to keep an eye on it until we stopped for the night. Well I found the culprit, an oil bottle in the storage compartment had a crack in it from riding there. It was leaking and running out a drain hole in the compartment! Whew! We left Route 66 heading south for the night in Canyon ,TX.

Made it to Artiesia!
" Giant Alert" One of our cruises a very interesting one since neither Jodie or I have been there. The annual Artesia Bull Dog festivities, guess who that old fart is ahead of us? It was great to see him again. Pecan orchards around Artesia, said to be over 80,000 trees in the area. Artesia is behind us for this year. Jodie and I want to thank Bill, Mike, and Jerry for a great time! We didn't go away hungry that's for sure!

Re: Cruising to the Desert Run!
This sight is pretty common, WOW there is a lot of them!
Leaving the state and heading to Lawton, OK. for the night.
After checking out of the hotel we decided on a side trip before we left town!
They have about 650 buffalo and a heard of elk, long horn cattle also.
Nice cruising through the refuge.
