MidWest Regional in Pella, Iowa July 21/23 2016
Hi all,
We wanted to get some information out on the Midwest Regional Event in Pella, Iowa, July 21 thru 23.
Glenn Hamm will be hosting this event in this beautiful and charming town of Pella. Www.Pella.org/. The host hotel will be AmericInn, rates are $85 a night for a king bed. There is trailer parking in the rear on a grass lot.
The tentative schedule is:
Thursday: Cruise across the one mile bridge over to Knoxville, Iowa, ( the Sprint Car Capital of the World) and tour the Sprint Car Museum. Back to Pella, visiting a winery and cheese factory, plus local sights.
Friday: Cruise up to the Amana, Iowa area (a German type village and community) for the day. Also visiting unique shops, food ,winery and brewery's. Then back to Pella for a burger burn.
Saturday: Morning car show uptown on the square. The city is blocking off 50 parking spaces for us to do a show and shine 9am-1pm.
For anybody that arrives earlier in the week there are plenty of activities, shopping, and restaurants all in the Dutch theme tradition. There are also car museums, and the Iowa NASCAR race track. (I will be there on Monday, so if anyone wants to cruise we will set it up)

The phone number for the Americinn is 641-621-1421. Be sure to tell them you are part of the NTBA block of rooms. Pella is a very unique Dutch town in Iowa. The scenery and baked goods are pretty fantastic. Our cruise to the Amana Colonies will be another highlight of this event. Glenn has put much time and effort into preparing what will be an awesome event. Sure hope you can join us us!

Thanks for the info, Rolla. OMG: Just shot myself in the good foot!
I just realized the dates - - - - DUH... Sandy has eye surgery June 27 and I have to have a revision done on my leg the 29th.
Not enough time for all our wishes to develop this year

And for those of you of a more...."passive" nature, you could wet your fishing line in Red Rock Lake, just W-SW of Pella. Here's an excerpt of an article from the June issue of Iowa Game & Fish;
Red Rock Reservoir, located in Marion County, is a perennial favorite for giant crappies. This is the largest body of water in central Iowa and has a coverage of 15,250 acres, with a maximum depth of 44 feet. Crappies will start moving to spawning areas when water temperatures reach 50 to 55 degrees.
Target these fish in Whitebreast arm and the marina as the water warms. Black crappies will push 14 inches, biologists noted.
As the season progresses and the water temps in the reservoir heat up, white bass will become increasingly active. Surface temps in the 58 to 70 degree range mark the spawn and typically will take place between April and mid-June. These fish will form in large schools and chase after minnows and baitfish that swim near the surface in the evenings.
"Look for birds hovering over surfacing baitfish and toss silver-colored lures into the frenzy, " Dodd advised. (Ben Dodd, Iowa DNR Fisheries Biologist.)
Don't forget to get yourselves a non-resident license.

Any chance there might be valve cover races at this event?

OK, gang.......six-day countdown, (for me anyway). Can we get an expected roll call?
I won't be able to make it until Saturday.
