Chevy short blocks
I have a chance to aquire a "1 piece rear main seal" 350 short block cheap, and was wondering if there are real benefits with this block over the old 2-piece rear seal block?

Re: Chevy short blocks
One other thing . . . any truth to the rumors that many of the currently available 350 chevy blocks are made in Mexico? If so, any quality differences that are important???

Re: Chevy short blocks
I have had a Mex 350 short block in my bucket for about 10 years now...no trouble ..it is true that the old cams from mexico used to flatten out , but those were in the old 305 / 307 or whatever they were .

Re: Chevy short blocks
350 blocks are cast in the US, Canada, and Mexico. I am not aware of any identifying marks or numbers that indicate where they are cast.

Re: Chevy short blocks
The crate motor in my coupe has a 4 bolt main 350 block from Mexico...no problems with it. The #'s on the 2 bolt and the 4 bolt are the same, so you have to pop the pan to see which you have.
