A trip to Safety Day, an annual Spring gathering of STL Chapter bucketheads, began with much joy and excitement, as the bucket fired right up and thumped happily along for 5 miles or so, and then . . . smoke from the right front tire . . . wha-a-a-t??? I thought only the rear tires produced smoke. A roadside detour revealed the problem: yours truly had forgotten to pack the front wheel bearings with grease! What a bonehead!!!



My T sits forlornly in a parking lot, waiting for 'the hook' graciously provided by Bill Parisho, who allowed me to continue the rest of the journey to Safety Day in his trailer.

Have to admit though - - "NOT" greasing the wheel bearings???

Damage assessment reveals no damage to the left front spindle, and only minor damage to the right front, which we've already polished out. Bearings of course are trash, but a new set from Speedway Motors is on the way ($30). A new tire for right front (which flat-spotted when the wheel seized up) and we're back on the road!
