Finally!!!!

Post by Big Dog »

Found a way to balance my rear tires. They are too big to balance on a regular balancer. Went to the World of Outlaws last week. Got home & got to thinking how they balanced theirs. Went to a local sprint car driver & asked him. He said he had a hand balancer that I could use.
You put your tire on this and it will settle with the heavy side down. Keep adding weights till it turns 1/4 turn. Presto zippo your tire is balanced. One side took 1 oz the other took 7 oz. Thanks Greg Nikitenko for the use of your balancer. His web site is linked below.

Had to use an adapter. 3" PVC coupler worked perfect.

Have you driven it yet to see how it worked?

On our truck tires, different shops have different requirements, but most won't balance a tire if it requires more than 4 oz of weights. Seven is a lot. The most I've ever seen successfully applied to a truck tire is eight.
