So I get home today, and my new tires are here. LT again! Gee, the ad said absolutely noting about them being truck tires. Grrrrr. Problem with Amazon is there's no phone number to call and ask a question.

So found a good thread on the HAMB forum about wheels and tires folks had on their hot rods. Seems a 285/70R15 was gonna be the best I could do. Found some on eBay from a company with an actual phone number to call if you had a question. I called, verified it was NOT a truck tire, and while it was not quite the height I want, it was close.

Boy, thank the Good Lord I have a great friend with a garage that does tires. Brought up my wheels and tires today only to be told my tires were "LT" i.e. light truck tires. Not good for a rear tire on a hot rod. So returned them to Amazon today and ordered the same size tire (31X10.5X15) in a passenger kind of tire: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FA ... They should be here next Tuesday, which is fine. We leave tomorrow and won't be back till late Monday.

What's the reason for not using an LT tire? seems like you will not have near the weight on them compared to an SUV.

Mostly because my old hot rod buddy that owns a garage (and will be mounting the tires on my new wheels) said they would ride real hard Winfield. Passenger car tires I will get are 30.1 inches tall, which should be fine.

Just ordered a new headlight switch (old one was inoperable) and new painted front shocks from Speedway Motors. Painted shocks will be sanded and re-painted the color of the body. Another couple weeks and I will get new 30.75" tall tires from Coker. Given how much money that guy has, no wonder the tires are so expensive!

Trying to sort out stuff for the build right now, but maybe lunch first...

New front license plate holders. Required by the great state of New York, but at least they're cool.

Make sure you measure the diameter of your front cross pipe before you order. I didn't see one for anything over 2 inches listed.

Should he here within a week and a half. Then it's saving money for paint mostly, as I have most all the other stuff hiding somewhere in the garage or basement. My goal for getting the body done and to the painter is May sometime. Got plenty to do in the meantime. Fan shroud gets closer every day, but needs a bit of resin in places to finish up. Old vette air cleaner is about done, but needs more primer before finishing.

Want to get the engine running by May too. Need to build something to hold my dash board in place with gauges, hook the gauges up, radiator hoses (of some kind), and fill the tranny up best I can. Gotta start rotating the engine again too, both crank and distributor shaft. Getting excited, as you can imagine.
