Mike, after building one that I could be proud of simply because I built it, I wanted something better this time around. Not rusting. Painted. Which is what I was doing to it when it burnt in the fire here. This project has taken me too many years already. I think often of how easy it would have been just to get the same body I had first time around. Oh well.

Frank this is about all I have ………..it is very crude but it works....I have an extension on my saw table that I welded a mount for my small drill press. Then I used a couple of sawhorses with a piece of plywood that I but a board across the back with a mark every two inches to slide that work piece along.....Questions?

This worked for me Frank and the "Machine" was a bunch of what ever I had around the shop......I never thought about taking anymore photos.... I hope this helps.....

Frank, You will never be more satisfied than you will have ever been with any other cars you've owned or built and when you finish this car you can say it was done by an old man that set a goal and finished it . It will be great and enjoyable when you do. HURRY UP, you aint gettin' any younger.

Thanks Bruce. Should be done by the end of the year, or sooner. Once I get the body done, off to the painter. When I get it back, plenty to do!

Mike, I need a side shot of how that drill press is mounted. I'm off to get one today (Harbor Freight cheapy), then a piece of aluminum for the dash. Need to tear the press apart to mount it somehow so I can engine turn the firewall like I did the dash!

The trans tunnel is done at least till I look at it again, lol. May skim it with filler or just leave it as it is and paint it. Still needs some cleaning around the edges, but I am done for the day after working a day and a half on this thing. Thought I would have it done 24 hours ago!

Figured while the body was turned over, good time to sand the battery box I also did on my back ages ago. Once that was done, also covered it with some short strand filler. Will sand and may cover with cloth as well. Depends on how I feel tomorrow.

Off to get a cheap drill press today at Harbor Freight, then a piece of aluminum tomorrow I need for the firewall. Drill press will be modified so I can engine turn (or jewel) the firewall like I did the dash. Did not want to alter my good big floor mount press to do that.

How do you blend the edges where the tunnel meets the floor?

Seems there would be a hump that's a couple inches wide on the floor.

Frank it all depends on how your drill is mounted...……….My Craftsman has a 2 inch round hollow shaft that sits in an Alumn sleeve I made on my Lathe then welded to the corner of the table extension on the saw......It is not set up now so what you see is what I have....Sorry about that....

How do you blend the edges where the tunnel meets the floor?

Seems there would be a hump that's a couple inches wide on the floor.

On the inside it was a pain in the ***. Had to slice the original hump down the middle and take a thin triangular slice out. Glassed it to the floor, but had to also glass the seam I had cut. To smooth it out after the glass, took a number of layers of body fill. Came out smooth though, and will be covered with carpet.

On the underside, just did it with the resin jelly and mat first, then sanded that with a 60 grit flap wheel on my grinder, and covered most of it with cloth and regular resin.

What would your advice with this be Mike (if any, no big deal)? It's all apart and has to be put together anyways.

Bend the steel tube at a tight 90 degree, insert it where that set screw is, then back it up to something I could use the three bolt holes to bolt it to something?

I wonder what the best way to bend the tube would be?

I get that aluminum plate tomorrow and need ideas. All are welcome!
