Hitec T at the track

Post by Bill Cleveland »

Here's Kevin Seward at the track:

"Yes it is an automatic, Turbo 400, I made 8 runs that night, 2 at a time and then cool down some. The best one was a 7.65 at 88 mph. This track will stop you if you go below 7.5 and no roll-bar. I don't think that will happen with Hitec T the way it is set up right now."

Running a 7.65 is getting pretty close to that magical number of 7.5 seconds !

A local car club puts on an event that takes place over three days in El Reno Ok on Route 66. Part of that is drag racing on Sunday usually and I've done that once. There are no clocks and no particular finish line.

Yes it is close to 7.5, but I have learned over the years that it takes a lot of horse power to move the needle very much in an 1/8th mile. I have a good friend who races Pro Mods in the 1/8th mile. Of course he is in a completely different league than our T's. His good runs in his 1969 all carbon fiber Camaro are in the 3.70 seconds range at 200 + mph using a 959 cu in motor and bunches of nitrous.

That would be interesting where you were running, almost like street racing, but not exactly. I think I have seen a video from from there I think ?? It was some time back and the guy lost control when he was going too fast when he topped the rise and crashed into a power pole or something just before it would have hit a building as I recall. Pretty spicy, but I guess better than all out street racing with no protection.
Have you been able to run yours through the beams? Am I right, as I recall you have a 400 inch small block? I know it sounds good. Sure wish I could get the cam in mine to sound better, but the computer takes control after it warms and goes into closed loupe and presto zippo you get a singer sewing machine sort of. :)
