Or tube steaks! Milt, we all meet up in the K-Mart parking lot, then John leads us on a cruise out to his place.

Hey Jim, Are you staying at the Days Inn North on 44 or the south on Sunshine Blvd? And, for that rate is there a code, or mention something, or is that the going rate? Thanks, Bruce

Days Inn North on I-44. No code; that special just popped up on their website. If you request 3 or more nights, you should get that rate.

Guys, been working on a change. I haven't firmed up details with them, wanted to get thoughts.

Super 8 in Strafford is telling me $59 for a single Queen & $69 for two queens. They are located just a few miles outside Springfield right between Route 66 and I44. They remodeled less than a year ago and have lots LOTS of parking. There is also an RV park right next door. (I haven't talked to the RV park yet.) This is about 10 miles from where you have stayed before, in an area with very little traffic. The rooms are that I looked at last week are VERY clean. Tammy stated she would much rather stay at the Super 8 than at the Home Stay

Would you guys want to give them a try? I think it's a much nicer place for us to gather. Its less than 15 miles from the NSRA fairgrounds & about 15 miles from my house.

Also, I don't have any RV hookups, but we'll put anyone that wants to park out here up. I think I can find room for a few RV's if you want. I'll be staying here and driving into where everyone stays at.

Let me know your thoughts, I'll try to get back here every night from now on to see if anyone has left a note.

I will have to set this up to with them for you to get these rates. I haven't give them a a final yes or no yet, but will need to THIS WEEK. Let me know here.

Hey folks, one of the best parts of this weekend is hanging out in the parking lot at the hotel in the evening and swapping stories (some of which are true!)! We should try to stay at the same place if we can. Ann and I are already booked at the Homestay, but we'll move to where the majority of folks are staying. Here's what it's like...

Ann just reminded me that the main reason we like the Homestay is we can take our camp chairs out to the curb in front of the hotel to watch the hot rod parade... so I guess we're staying there!

MOTEL INFO

Post by John Brown »

I've put a lot of thought into this (well a lot of thought considering I've been working lots of overtime the past couple of weeks) and I still like the idea of changing hotels. Parking for the trailers was ify at best in Springfield, as well as we were spread all over the hotel. Many a person called to get told they were booked up, then Tammy called and was able to get another room.

Super 8 wants us there. When I talked to the manager tonight one of the things she asked was if this was a one time deal or a yearly event. I told her yearly, and she replied "I hope that this grows, and you continue to use us."

I have 20 rooms blocked at the Super 8 in Strafford Mo. They will hold them for me until the end of April. They are keeping there winter prices for us, $59 for one bed, $69 for two beds. You need to call them direct to get one of the rooms, 417-736-3883. Tell them you are reserving rooms for John & Tammy's BBQ to get the special rate & one of the blocked rooms. You can not get this from online registration.

This motel has been completely remodeled very recently and is very clean. (They don't even have pics up on their website of the remodel yet.)
