For those of you wondering or not....

Post by Lugnut »

A few new things to make mention of here...I'm still among the living and this is a good thing, at least for me...maybe not so for a few other people.

I have a NEW lap top which I'm still attempting to get used to and haven't yet accomplished Windows 8, but I will.

The LGSM/OGM is STILL in pieces and will be for a VERY LONG time. I seriously considered selling it this past December and would have had it been in paint. And this brings us to WHY the bucket will be apart for a VERY LONG time......the Friday prior to Tax Day, Lisa and I went down to H&R Block to sign the papers and pay what we owed H&R. Sunday afternoon Janet from H&R Block calls Lisa and tells her, "I have some bad news for you." "I forwarded all the tax info for you and Charles and your paperwork was DENIED!!!" " Someone filed under Charles's S/SN and got your ENTIRE tax refund...close to $5k!! So yeah, I HAVE been violated and IF I ever find the a-hole I will do great bodily harm to them.

So goes my tax refund...so goes the paint job and who knows about the bucket...we'll see. Quickly losing patience and interest. Seems a few of my bucket head friends have parted with their pride and joy...just another one last week sold their bucket...

By the way, the Police Officer that came to the house to take our report said the very same thing happened to his wife last year and it took OVER 200 days for her to receive her refund!!

Anyway, I thought "some" of you might be interested in what has been going on up in the tundra...or not.

Luggy,

Sorry to hear about the IRS flub. This jsut maybe another way for Uncle Sam to keep your overpaid tax money.

On the other hand, the IRS must know where they sent the refund, so my sense this is now an FBI fraud issue, versus the local police. After all, it was the federal government that was de-frauded!

Hang in there...better days are coming!!!

P.S. If you do decide to sell, I want to be your fist call!

Wasn't an IRS flub, from what I read, some low life filed as his wife and collected her refund, just like being robbed.

I think I would find a good tax attorney. Just to get a good understanding where you stand. Good Luck

Regarding the replies to my initial post:

1) Obtain a tax attorney for what? I KNOW where I stand..."in line" with everyone else that had gotten ripped off. According to H&R Block and the Brown County Sheriff's Department..this happens to "at least" one million people EVERY damn year at tax time! What happens now is COMPLETELY out of my hands. We filed ALL the correct forms that we were required to do to report theft and fraud. We WILL be audited for sure, but we have nothing to hide...so bring it on.

The low life stole MY social security number...NOT my wife's and yes I WAS robbed! It was NOT an IRS flub...it was theft..plain and simple.

Mark, regarding the LGSM/OGM.....if and when I put a FOR SALE sign on it...it will NOT go cheap. This is NOT saying anything against you...just saying I won't ever give it away. I'd either keep it or scrap it.

So now we wait.....perhaps I'll just paint it myself...how damn difficult can it be? Paint isn't cheap, but neither am I. We'll see.

I kept track of what I spent on materials, sandpaper, filler, primer, paint, spray guns, etc., to paint my T-bucket myself ... in the driveway ... no paint booth ... and the total investment was under $400.00, but, that does not count or pay myself for the hours and hours and hours I spent doing the prep work.

I used to have a neighbor that wrote software for the IRS and we drank a beer together once in a while. He told me, once, that the IRS has software that ties SSNs to addresses to prevent just this type of fraud. That is why I used the word flub. Maybe they are not using it any more.

Luggy - I don't believe that I ever said I wanted to buy your car cheap. I certainly never had an expectation of buying it cheap. I have always admired the quality of your workmenship and your innovations. Pure and simple.
Furthermore, the K& S bodies were known as high quality bodies, which are no longer being made. I think that I remember a memeber here saying he was trying to buy the K&S molds. Once again, I am quite sure that I am wrong.

Very tired......

Sorry for the advise, I forgot who was having the problem. My fault - it will not happen again.

Mark,

I certainly was NOT implying anything less of you. I think of you as a great friend and we go back a few years. I suppose I mentioned the word "cheap" because many folks don't know what goes into these darn little cars. Like Rolla and I were discussing this morning..."over the long run", I have at least $40k in the LGSM/OGM, but this is over a period of 13 years. The last huge expense for my bucket was the $3500 polished quick change...prior to that it was the interior and prior to that it was the body.

Would I list it for $40k? HA! never as I would be the laughing stock of timbucktwo. I would list it reasonably, BUT I won't ever give it away. What would be a reasonable price? I don't know...I will start high, as I can "always" come down in price...maybe I'd test the waters and list it at $29k....just to test the waters. Ya just never know who's looking to buy. I remember an old farmer coming up to me at a show back shortly after I got the LGSM on the road...as I was polishing it up for the show, he asked "you ever think about selling this car?" I told him that I think about it EVERY time I clean it. he asked, "what would you have to get for it?" Now mind you, this was shortly after it was completed....I told him "$30k." He told me I was nutz. I told him..." for all I know, you could be like daddy warbucks...I can always come down in price, but I can't go up."

I appreciate your kind thoughts/words about the LGSM/OGM...this means a great deal to me.

Regarding the IRS...anymore, hell I don't even trust them...especially in view of the crap they have pulled.

Jerry Cook was the member who inquired about buying the molds from Joe Barnett, who owned K&S Bodies...so Mark, you see you were NOT incorrect.

Don't worry mark...I'll keep you in mind. :-)
