Indy Roadster Roundup Tentative Itinerary:

Wednesday: Short afternoon cruise for early folks –then hang out at Hotel. We’re working on a cruise to dinner for folks that want to attend.

Thursday: Leave hotel for a 9:30am tour of Don Shoemacher Racing (DSR). Unlike previous tours at the Indy events, all 6 of the Nitro Teams will be in the shop working when we are touring, so you’ll get to see stuff that is usually not public. We’ll tour the team shop area, fabrication shop, and the very impressive machine shop where they make heads, blocks, and rods for 11,000 hp engines from billet aluminum. From there we’ll make a stop at Walt’s Hot Rods for an open house, then a nice cruise through the beautiful Indiana byways to lunch in Danville, Indiana. After lunch we’ll stop off at one of the best musclecar restoration shops in the Midwest for a quick tour. After the tour we head back to hotel. Thursday evening dinner is open, although there will probably be some groups heading to some of the recommend local establishments.

Friday: Leave hotel in the am for a longer cruise to Nashville, Indiana. The trip down and back is very scenic and Nashville is a great little arts and crafts village with tons of places to shop and eat. We’ll spend a couple hrs in Nashville then caravan back. This is approximately 1:45hr cruise each way so we will have a rally point at a gas station approximately half-way. Friday night will feature a BBQ at the hotel courtesy of Pro-Kote Indy. John and Dennis will be smoking up several briskets along with all the sides and fixings. Dennis will lead and ice cream cruise somewhere in the evening.

Saturday: We’ll lead a tour to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway museum for anyone that wants. If you haven’t been to the museum before, it is a must for race and motorsports fans. The collection of cars is fantastic and currently there is a Mario Andretti special exhibit. The admission to the museum is $10 – there are track tours available as well. And no, we will not be doing an on-track event this year. Late morning we’ll have a show and shine at through early afternoon. We may organize a cruise in the afternoon for folks that are sticking around until Sunday. We may hit up a local cruise-in Sat nite.

Host Hotel: is the Waterfront Hotel in Speedway Indiana. If you have not made reservations, do it now! Call 317-299-8400. Tell them you are with the NTBA for the group rate.

Parking: The field just south of the parking lot where we did park trucks/trailers is now a storage facility so the truck/trailer parking will be a bit tighter than in past events. We should have plenty of room, but lets be organized.

RV spots are available at the Lions Park a few minutes away in Clermont. It is first come-first served and is $25/day. Address is: 3201 North Tansel Rd, Clermont, Indianapolis, Indiana.
