I just booked my room today, only a few left at the designated hotel http://www.gdwcasino.com/Carson/index.php and all the RV spots are booked. Good thing you planned and have an overflow hotel. Plenty of other RV sites in town, just none left at the Gold Dust West.

You and I both cut it close. I keep forgetting that a place like Carson City is a vacation destination, being so close to Tahoe, Reno, and Virginia City and the summer months being the most popular.
