Windshield glass

Planning on shortening my windshield from 20" to 14". I'm using a Speedway 2 piece chrome frame that I will cut 3" off each half. My question is ... should I use a one piece piece of glass or two piece? Has anyone used a full 1 piece windshield this tall? I'll also be shortening my top irons to fit the lowered windshield. Just thinking a 1 piece may be prone to cracking to easily. Any thoughts?

My windshield is 20" tall, but I use safety glass, not polycarbonate or plexiglass. Automotive glass is hard to break. In 10 yrs, a rock hit my windshield and had it replaced. Chip only, no cracking. Good luck,Bruce

My windshield is 20 inches and one piece of Safety Glass with no problems after 8 years except for a rock chip and some sparks (my Bad) that caused some metal in the glass.......You should always use Automotive Safety Glass in my opinion.....

That 14 inch windshield will work just fine so long as you can see everything going on in front of you.....that would be a little low for me...

I'm using a 14" windshield (one piece) in a CCR frame. Definitely use the automotive safety glass, which is actually a laminate, and will resist breakage better than other materials.

another thought on a one pc.. yrs ago i was thinking the same. going from a 2 pc to 1 pc.. if u look at both halfs of the frame where they more/less come together u'll find a cap that can be removed. if memory serves me i think it will be about a 3/4" hole. what i did was get round stock alum and had a grove machined in it to allow it to slide up and down the 2 lengths of the side posts, this makes a full one pc unit. i'd need to look to see if i still have it. this was u don't need to buy another frame and u can make it any size u want.

If the side frame is flexible the windshield will break. Make sure it is rigid.

bill is correct.. the one's i had done were like 2 ft long to be cut to length. u don't want something 6" long to just go inside but to carry the load so to speak.
