The oil pressure in my BBC zips right up to 45 PSI after startup and slowly goes down to 5PSI as the engine is run. During normal operation the oil pressure hovers around 10. At freeway speeds it may go a bit higher. The engine pumps out a lot of oil!! New oil pump, lifters, pushrods, and gaskets. The engine DOES NOT leak when still.
Suggestions!!?? CEEC

Is that a blower motor? Might be main and or cam bearing wear.
Just a hunch.

Thanks, Windy, It has a tunnel ram, and I was afraid that bearings might be the culprit.

Re: BBC oiling problems.
Did you have an Oil Pressure problem before putting in a new pump? If I remember correct the pressure relief spring and plunger are part of the pump. Of course it could Bearings, depends on if you had the same problem before putting in a new pump. Good Luck.

I see a common thread developing and all fingers point to main bearings. So, I think the engine comes out and new bearing go in. Winter time is a good time for that.

this is a very l-o-n-g shot, but check the gauge...I was having pressure issues with my little Ford. The gauge on the dash ended up being faulty, adn i discovered this AFTER installing a mechanical gauge off the sending unit. Now I really don't rely on the dash guage. Check on the "easy" fixes first before delving into the engine. jmho

I installed a mechanical gage in the oil circuit at the center main bearing. That gage and the dash gage agree that the oil pressure stinks.
