In case you are wondering the tragedy that is unfolding this morning in Baton Rouge is about a block north of the motel that was the site of the Cajun Nationals in April.

I read about that this morning and said the same thing.....I remember that mall and the overpass on I-12 right there.....Very Bad deal, I don't understand why some folks see the need to kill someone/cops.......This country needs to calm down.............

I have a feeling it's going to get worse, before it gets better.

Mike, consider this; 2016 is the 240th anniversary of an event that almost parallels what's going on now. Back then, the people had gotten quite tired of the established governmental heirarchy, and took action, even though it was against the law, and seemed against every ounce of "common sense" that most believed. Those people prevailed, in the long run, and gave us an independent nation. That independent nation has slowly been taken over by folks who think they need to have, if not total, then at least a lot of control over the people. We see this in the increasing militarization of civilian law enforcement, further encroachment by government into our lives and destruction of our rights and the Constitution. Law enforcement has no small part in bringing this onto themselves, and they don't even realize it yet.

Do I believe it's right or wrong? Can't say at this point. It might be right, but for the wrong reasons, or wrong, for the right reasons.

All I can do is to remember that throughout history, no form of governemnt has lasted more than an average of 200 years. Might this be the beginning of our own anarchy? Perhaps it's "our" time for governmental collapse and change?

Ummm; Not just yet, Swampdog. It's a bit early to tell which direction all this is going to go. I could be entirely wrong, too. The thing is, we don't know what the near or far future holds for us, so who are we to tell if this is the beginning of the end for the U.S.?

Roger I kind of have to agree that this may very well get worse before it gets better....I don't have any answers but I sure hope things get done before the whole USA is gone......

I have seen some of those same things about the types of government not lasting but around 200 years and we are beyond that date as we speak......I like to think of the glass as being half full not half empty......
