I had tried that route but it wasn't from there. When the car was on the hoist it was easy to see when a light was shone up the bell housing.
It's not severe just a bit embarrassing as you pull out from being parked and there is a tell-tale left behind.

Beautiful sunny day but I seem to have a black cloud following me with this build.
I had previously built an FFR Cobra and used a 'donor' car for the engine, tranny, diff, and front suspension. Due to the many problems I had (old semi-faulty computer, wiring harness dieting nightmare, etc., etc.) I swore the next car would be:
1. naturally aspirated
2. all new parts
The only things on my T-bucket that are not brand new was the engine block (I had it checked out) and the supposedly rebuilt transmission. The tranny I bought in 2014 and the company is no longer around. Anyone care to guess what happened today?

Yup! I am driving to the inspection when Bang! Screeeeee! chucka chucka! and several more sounds I could not express. In neutral and engine off, you could sometimes push the car but in gear? Nope.
Looking underneath (and in the attached pic on the flat deck) the engine is level but the tranny has taken a nosedive in relation. Bell housing is entact and there is some oil seeping out. It's now in the shop for analysis. Broken spline????

Yikes.....that doesn't sound good. When you say "some oil seeping out", I guess you are talking
about transmission fluid?

What kind of trans do you have? You know it's not out of the question to rebuild the automatic
trans yourself if you have the time and inclination. But if you want to get back on the road asap,
then that's not the time to attempt your first trans build. Mine took 9 months, but that was
including a lot of machine work on a 200-4R.

Wow! That looks impressive Rick.

I am just having the shop do it once they find the problem. Just drove by and they were putting it in the bay with a cradle.

Sorry to high jack the thread.

Indycars, would you mind sharing the details about that transmission stand? Is it able to hold a full built ready to run trans? I have one I need to rebuild come spring. It's a pain trying to load a transmission's internals while it's sitting in a stack of tires.
