Can Someone Recommend an Effective Water Filter?

Looks like I got another load of water with my non-ethanol fill-up. I drained the tank, but the outlet is off the bottom of the tank a bit. The popping is driving me nuts! Okay, so I was already nuts!!!

Hi Mark, don't know about a filter, but if you want to pump all the old gas out; use something like a hand crank, or siphon hand pump and just pump everything into an external gas tank of some sort. This would probably work. https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/pe ... sfer&pos=3

After it sets in a can or jug for a while the gas and water would separate and then just drain the gas off the top.

Kevin - Thanks for the thought! I have that exact hand pump!

Unfortunately, the way the tanks were made prevents a siphon from getting to the bottom of the tank, as there is a course screen, where the filler neck meets the tank.

I have pumped out as much as I can with the electric fuel pump, but the outlet is about 0.500 inches above the bottom of the tank. In order to completely empty the tanks, I would have to drop the tanks out and empty them through the crossover tube. I need a lift to get the tanks out.

Why wouldn't something like this work to get to the bottom of your tank(s)?

How course is the screen? Can you retrofit your pump with a smaller hose that will fit through the screen?

When the tank was built, he marked where the filler pipe would connect to the tank and then drill several quarter inch holes in the tank. Therefore, the possibility of getting a hose through one of the holes is pretty nil.

I tried to look for water in the jug, after the pump out, but had difficulty seeing into the bottom of the plastic tank. So I put the gas into the pickup truck and it burned it without a problem.

In another forum, I had somebody suggest a hotter spark plug. Does that make any sense to you?
